Humana enhances health plan options for seniors in Midwest with new $0 premium option in some areas
Humana Gold Choice Private Fee for Service health plan offers Medicare beneficiaries a rich drug benefit option, access to providers without referrals
MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Mar 8, 2005 - Medicare eligible beneficiaries in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and portions of Illinois, North Dakota and South Dakota who enroll in the Humana Gold Choice Private Fee for Service (PFFS) health plan now have even better benefits for 2005. These include monthly premiums ranging from $0 to $79 based on service area, a free membership in the SilverSneakers® Fitness Program where available, and a four-tier name brand prescription drug benefit option.
Humana Gold Choice provides an affordable alternative to most Medicare supplement plans, and is well-suited for seniors in all demographic categories and income levels, including those who travel or want an alternative to an HMO or original Medicare. Seniors who enroll in the Humana Gold Choice PFFS will have the freedom to see any provider, without a referral, who accepts Medicare payments and Humana's terms.
"Our plan has been designed specifically for the Medicare beneficiary who wants an alternative to the high monthly premiums associated with a Medicare supplement," said Janice Burrows, Director, Humana Private Fee for Service Midwest. "In portions of Iowa, we are the only insurer to offer a Medicare/Medicaid option with $0 premium. Humana members who enroll will get all of the benefits of a Medicare plan with the state enhancements of Medicaid. That's a win-win situation for seniors, and the best of both worlds."
Burrows cited the plan's value as another real plus for the plan. "Plan options feature drug benefits that focus on lowering out-of-pocket costs for members, including a $12 generic drug co-pay and four-tier pharmacy option," Burrows added.
